VAVD Controller & VacPac®

Our Vacuum Assisted Venous Drainage Controller & VacPac® are relied upon by more than 90% of the cardiac programs in the USA.

About the VAVD Controller & VacPac®

The Boehringer VAVD Controller & VacPac® was designed specifically to administer safe and effective vacuum to the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit. Vacuum-assisted venous drainage (VAVD) allows for and optimizes the control of venous blood return during cardiopulmonary bypass.

The Boehringer VAVD Controller & VacPac® has a clinically acceptable maximum regulated suction limit of 60mmHg, positive and negative pressure relief safeguards, and enhanced standardization with the VacPac® single-use disposable.

VAVD Controller & VacPac® Features

The VAVD Controller & VacPac® provides high-resolution vacuum control to ensure safe and reliable administration of suction to the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit.

An integrated waste anesthetic gas disposal (WAGD) system effectively removes harmful volatile anesthetic gas from the operating room environment. A suction flowmeter set to exceed the flow of the sweep gas guarantees the removal of any excess anesthetic gas from the oxygenator.

The VAVD Controller with VacPac® device has positive and negative pressure relief safeguards to vent off additional system pressure in both the regulated and OFF positions. This protects the circuit from positive pressure accumulation and the blood from excess negative pressure.

The maximal suction range of the VAVD Controller prevents the system from delivering more than 60mmHg to the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit. This ensures that the negative pressure on the system is within the clinically acceptable range, reducing the formation of gaseous microemboli and hemolysis.

In the unlikely event that fluid enters the VAVD Control Unit, the patented Boehringer Self Clearing™ design ensures continued vacuum delivery.
